Conventions of front cover of magazines.

Conventions of front cover

-       Masthead: This is the title of the magazine usually at the top of the front cover.
-       Cover lines: This is the main text on the cover of the magazine which advertises other articles
-       Main image: This is the biggest image on the front cover it’s the photo that is on the front of the magazine that covers most of the page. This is so big because it makes the person look more important.
-       Masking: This is where the image has been cut out.
-       Enlarged quotes: These are quotes that will have been pulled out of an article. This stands out and is very eye-catching, this will bring people in and make people want to buy the magazine.
-       Headlines: main statement on the front of the magazine this is usually very large and will describe the main story.
-       The background of a magazine is usually plain colours to make the image stand out more.
-       Barcode: this is put in a black space which makes it sound like it’s more important.

-       Lures: Often used for marketing.
