Taylor Moreton's Slidely by Slidely Slideshow

This slide show shows the comparisons from my school magazine final products to my music  magazine final products that were created recently. From this slide show you can see how much i have improved in my skills when using sketch and shows my development in my actual products. I have learnt how to layout my products which is import as it will more appealing and gives an eye-catching effect to viewers of the magazine. I had to take time in getting the right location which I found hard but I feel like I finally got the hang off it. 

On sketch there are many different tool that I have used to create my final products and when making my school magazine products. For example I used the shadow tool when editing my text on my different products for example using the shadow tools to make the text stand out and look more professional. I also used the crop tool quite a lot to edit the actual images to make them the correct size to fit perfectly and make the image look good. I wen for a colour scheme of yellow black and whit etc appeal to my target audience and make my products look better. 

In the process of creating my final products i have also learnt how to take pictures properly and became better at photography, i spent a long time over the period of creating the final products taking high quality pictures and have definitely showed improvement in the way my pictures have been taken and how the images i have used in my products look a lot better. A shot I used frequently is a medium close up shot. I feel like this shot works the best for my music magazine so I used it the most.

I have made many improvements if you look back at my school magazine compared to my music magazine and i feel like the changes i have made are quite big and are changes that have made my work a lot more professional and stand out a lot more. I spent a lot more time creating my music magazine products as i spent a lot of time on the layout out of a front cover, double page spread and contents page and feel like i spent a lot of time where the text and images should be.  also used different fonts which made my magazine look a higher standard instead of standard fonts which everybody can access as they are already on Sketch.

Who is you the audience for your music magazine?

My music magazine called motion is aimed at an audience at the ages of 15-25 yrs. old and is also aimed at more male audience another still for females’ think that my magazine is suited better for male’s as it is based on a more male popular subject, it’s based on all music but mainly shows rap and grime as the focus of the magazine. A large percentage of the audience will be teenagers as the target age group is 15-25 which is mainly teenagers and young adults which means a lot of my audience is in school and starting work, which means a lot of the audience will not be earning a lot of money which means the magazine needs to be affordable for people who can’t afford to pay as much as they are not in work.

As most of the audience is teenagers a lot of them will like to go out with the friends and go to parties as their hobby, and doing other things for example going clubbing, partying, playing sports. At this age people like to spend all their money on things that make their life more enjoyable as they don’t have many responsibilities so people spend their money on things like electronics, clothes, food and things like that which in a huge benefit to motion as people will be more interested in music at that age as it’s a huge part of teenager’s life in this time.

My target audience will probably own a mobile phone, having a mobile phone allows customers to all different things such as apps games, and my music magazine called motion could possibly create a app which would create a whole new level of promotion as a lot more people will know about my app. The app would be a digital version of the magazine with samples of new tracks that customers can listen to, so If people have read about all new songs that have come out from the motion magazine they can open the motion app and listen to the songs hey have just read about, an advantage of using the app to listen to songs and read about artists over something like YouTube is that you need internet for YouTube and you don’t for motion app.

On the JICNAR scale my audience would be at E on the scale as most of my audience are students which means most of them are unemployed and are at school. A lot of them will be funded at home and by their parents which means they could be involved in group ABC1.

SEE WHAT DRAKE HAS TO SAY ABOUT ‘STARTING FROM THE BOTTOM’

When I was only five years old my parents split up, which really affected me as I was growing up as I had no father in my life, I had to teach my self how to be a man, I think this really brings out a lot of meaning in my raps as people can her how sincere I am while performing. I grew up in Forest Hill, in Tornto, Canda, it was a very Jewish neibourhood, and when I was only 13 I had a Bar Mitzvah which was which was good, I remember getting all the girls back in the day as well. As I came into my teenage years I had lots of jobs just trying to get money in to help my mom and to try get the best pair of sneaker I could. Between the ages of 16 and 18 I was really trying to find out what career path to take while I was in college studing engineering, which I ddint enjoy I was just making my mom happy. I remember back in the day I always loved music, I used to sing a lot to my mom and she has loads of reconding of me singing. When I was 17 and in the middle of my college years me and my friend started recording some raps in the studio, we showed a few people and the word soon got around that I was a really good rapper, I carried on recording tracks, and created my first album which was very successful which really started to bring some money in and soon got signed by lil waynes Young money entertainment, this is where my career really tookoff as a rapper and here we are today.

Analysis of work:

These are three examples of layout sketches for my music magazine double page spreads. In my opinion i like the yellow one i did as its very simple and will have a very professional but laid back look to it which will fit in with my music magazine as that the kind of style i'n going for. I was the image on the left to fill most of the page which will give a very eye-catching look to the double page spread and not a boring look as if it looks boring as not interesting people will not want to read the article.

What is page furniture?

Page furniture is graphics used on the double page spread that aren’t pictures, they are used to make the page look more appealing and give an eye-catching effect to the double page spreads. 

Analysis of work:

This is my analysis of page furniture on a double page spread, i think that this is good as it will help me when creating my double page spread as i now know the features of page furniture and where to place different features on the double page to make it look god and professional as i looked at many examples of double pages and have a clear idea of where to place things when creating my own. 

Music Magazine Contents Page Conventions

At the very top of my contents page I will have a title that stays ‘Contents’ And just above it I will have the masthead of my magazine I smaller font, and to the sides of my masthead I will have two thin lines beside the masthead to give it a more stand out effect and will draw attention to people who look at the contest page. The word ‘Contents’ will be in a thin white font at the top of the page and the masthead will be the same as it is on the front cover of the magazine but smaller.

On the left-hand side of the page there will be a column of text that will have different sections to it that will show what information is on what page. There will be the Page number in larger font in white and just under the page number there will be information describing what is going on in that page which will be in smaller font which is also in bold white colours as well. Just under the page numbers there will be an article title for each page which will be in the same font size as It will stand out and let the readers know.

On the right-hand side of the page, there will be image of parts of the magazine, for example there might be an image that was taken from page 3, so there will be a caption under the image stating to look at page 3 for more information.

At the bottom of the page there will be all the different social media information, about how to find motion on all the different social media sites.

Analysis of work: 

I think this piece of work has definitely gave me a more clear idea of what to do for my contents page as I've basically created a plan of what to do so i now have steps to creating my contents page that i can follow which will overall make it easier for me when creating it.

Analysis of work:

This is a mock up front cover for my music magazine, i think that i need to change the picture to a different model as i don't think my model looks like a music star at the moment. I also need to change the sizes of different words as more important names in the cover lines need to be larger and bolder which will make them names stand out more and give them a more important look to them which is good as if the names are more eye-catching people will see them names and if they are fans will want to buy the magazine to read about the music artist.

The Bar chart shows that i asked a lot more males than females in my survey.

The survey shows that No one would spend more then 5 on a music magazine, it also shows that most people who answered said they would spend 2.

This bar chart shows that most epople who answered my survey listen to rap rather than the options that i gave, it also shows a few people who answered listen to other genres of music that weren't listed.

This bar chart shows that 75% of the people who answered my survey prefer music magazine to others.

This bar chart shows that most people buy the music magazine baswed on who is on the front of the magazine (main image) after that the same amount of people said that the masthead and pug are the reasons they buy a music magazine.

From this bar chart it shows that everyone who answered my survey are 16 or over that age which shows everyone who answered my survey are a bit older.

There were two answers saying that their favorite singer was Drake which is understandable as most people said they like rap and Drake is a very popular artist, Someone answered Adele as she is also very famous, and some one answer G Spitz who is an up and coming artist which shows people might want to see up and coming artists in my music magazine.

This bar chart shows that 50% of the people who answered my survey have been to a concert and the other half of the people who answered haven't been to a concert.
